can they repeat what they did in 1996?
Sri Lanka looking very good and playing some awesome cricket at the moment and looking in good form. arguebally the best bowling attack.
batting side may not be as strong as it was back in 1996 but can be... bowling line is definetly stronger than it was in 1996. so can we win again? Aus look Unbeatable.. before we talk about the final we will beat NZ right? hope we do and we will do having Malinga back... batting definetly need a bit of improvement even though we won by 6 wickets when we played NZ last time.

I can definetly see Srilanka repeating the sucess of the 1996 final. We posses an incredible bowling attack, arguably the best int he world.
The ever reliable Chaminda vaas to open the attack, who always bowls with conssitent accuracy and is very economical, always picking up early wickets. Lasith malinga posseses the firepower to be a game breaker, his unique action delivering the ball from near his hips provides an uncomfortable enviroment for the batsman, he has also shown that he can reverse swing the ball and keeps things economical in the death(something south africa know all too well!).Murali-genius, enough said!!.Dilhara fernando, although quite expensive bowls with fire and posses a brilliant slower ball. I can se him picking up crucial wickets like ponting. As if that isn't enough, we have alot of partimers that do more than there fair share, they always slow things down and can pick up a crucial breakthrough.
our batting attack has always seemed erratic. But in the last year things have really picked up int he batting department and conssitency is alot better. We are far more balanced and i belive it is far better than the one that won the 1996 world cup. Sanath jaysuriya up at the top, gets the team of to a flyer with ample support from upal tharanga. Its going to be crucial that these two really fire in the semi and the final. All they have to do is set a platform for the rest to leap from. Jayawardne is hitting some much needed form and is sure to play a huge part int he coming weeks as will the ever reliable kumar sangakarra-they both scream out class. chamara silva is going to be the next big thing, hes very similar to arivinda de silva...and we all know the role De Silva played in the 1996 world cup final!!, hopefully silva can replicate it. A minor problem though is the lower order hitting...having a real go at the end is very crucial. i'm not saying out lower hitting is bad...but i just don't think its as good as NZ, AUS or SA. Dilshan and silva are great, but from there things slow down a bit. Russel arnold does alot of nudging but doesnt really unleash. maharoof is a great slogger....too bad his bowling isn't as good:(, otherwise he would have fitted that jacob oram/andrew symonds position perfectly.
All in all our bowling is the best out of the remaing 4 teams...our batting rivals that of the best-Australia. Srilankan fielding is briliant, second only to Aus.
We will never have a better chance to win another world cup...and i really think we can win it!!!
GO LANKANS!!!

budget would be from £100-150 as am from the UK, am a middle order batsman like to be patient and look for singles and doubles but also can be really aggressive, and not sure what u mean by pitches and high/low bounce? i like to bat on pitches where there is low bounce
